Vibrant Communities

Signature Programs

Our signature community affairs program, Full Futures, was launched in recognition of the vital role schools play in providing daily nutrition to children. This 5-year, $5 million commitment to the school nutrition environment started in 2021 in our hometown of Camden, New Jersey, and is expanding to Charlotte, North Carolina and other locations where we have operations.

In addition to Full Futures, we are also proud to support several multi-year initiatives focusing on improving food access in our communities, including the Camden Food Fund & the Camden Food Security Collective.

Full Futures: A school nutrition partnership

Our ten years of work in food access and nutrition during Campbell’s Healthy Communities program uncovered an opportunity to advance the school food environment—from cafeteria equipment, to expanded meal programs, to menu reformulation and more. Schools play a vital role in providing daily nutrition to children, and we believe we can make a meaningful impact on enhancing the school nutrition environment. We are working closely with a broad range of partners, including from public, private, and non-profit sectors.

Campbell’s Healthy Communities program

Our 10-year, $10-million program concluded in fiscal 2021. We worked to measurably improve the health of young people in our hometowns—with a special focus on Camden—by partnering with nonprofits, schools, health care sites, and food retailers. Together with our core nonprofit partners, we:

  • Created the largest network of healthy corner stores in New Jersey, serving 69% of Camden’s residents (over 49,000 people).
  • Incorporated food insecurity screenings into hospital intake processes for the first time. This resulted in over 4,000 food insecure residents identified and referred to community resources to meet their needs.
  • Expanded nutrition education classes throughout Camden and provided over 480,000 cumulative hours of education.
  • Launched Camden’s first city-wide afterschool sports program, Soccer for Success. The program engaged kids in over 20,000 hours of physical activity.
  • Helped partner organizations leverage our investment to secure an additional $16.5 million to support program expansions.

Looking ahead, we’re excited to see our Healthy Communities work live on through our support of continuing initiatives like the Camden Food Security Collective, the Camden Food Fund, and our signature program Full Futures.
