Building a winning team and culture

Campbell Soup Company R&D employee portrait

Building a winning team and culture continues to be the first pillar of our business strategy because we understand that we are only as strong as our people. We’re prioritizing the development of our people so that we and they can reach our full growth potential.

Campbell’s purpose reflects what we’re all about: Connecting people through food they love. To recognize our employees who are making an impact on the business, we’ve incorporated our purpose and values into our employee recognition program.

We’ve evolved our leadership team, improved our business fundamentals, and demonstrated a renewed spirit of creativity and competitiveness.

Learn more about our purpose and values

Guided by our purpose and values, we’re proud of the way we support and care for each other, our communities, and the customers and consumers we serve.

Prioritizing inclusion and diversity

We’re building a company where everyone can be real, and feel safe, valued, and supported to do their best work. Our I&D strategy is designed to build capabilities to drive change, strengthen ally networks and communities through advocacy, and ensure accountability and transparency around our progress.

Capabilities

To build our capabilities, we’re increasing I&D learning opportunities and standardizing key processes throughout the company. In fiscal 2022, 95% of managers completed I&D learning and development opportunities focused on improving collaboration through inclusive behaviors.

We enhanced our talent acquisition processes to reach more diverse talent so we can hire the best candidate for the job.

Advocacy

To create an inclusive workplace, we’re supporting employees and organizations working to end racism and discrimination. In 2022, we fulfilled a three-year, $1.5 million commitment to support nonprofit organizations that raise awareness and fight discrimination.

Our 11 employee-led Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), which span office, remote, and manufacturing locations, engaged more members with events centered on learning and development, including mentorship and sponsorship programs. The work contributes to our culture by emphasizing belonging and and connects to our marketplace of customers, consumers, vendors, and communities.

Accountability

To foster accountability, all salaried employees have performance objectives related to I&D. We track progress against our I&D initiatives and report regularly to the company.

We’re proud that as a result of this work, the company has been recognized for its commitment to creating a more inclusive workplace, having been named one of America’s Greatest Workplaces 2023 for Diversity by Newsweek, America’s Best Employers for Diversity by Forbes, included on the Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index for the fifth consecutive year, and listed as a Champion of Board Diversity by the Forum of Executive Women.
